Adderall is a Central Nervous System (CNS)stimulant. It is generally prescribed for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Narcolepsy (a sleep disorder). Generic Adderall is a combination drug consisting of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine, which leads to certain chemical changes in the brain. Which positively helps to reduce hyperactivity, and control impulsive behavior. Also, it leads to better attention span, ability to focus, organizing skills, and listening skills.

What Does Adderall Do?

Adderall’s main function in the brain is to increase dopamine and norepinephrine levels. The increase reduces the symptoms of ADHD and Narcolepsy.

Mechanism:-

  • It contains two amphetamine enantiomers: Dextroamphetamine and Levoamphetamine. Dextroamphetamine is more potent in releasing dopamine in the brain, while Levoamphetamine has stronger cardiovascular and peripheral effects and a longer half-life.
  • Amphetamine enantiomers react with human trace amine-associated receptor 1 (hTAAR1) and vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT2). This interaction blocks the reuptake of norepinephrine, dopamine, and serotonin into the presynaptic neuron which induces alertness and wakefulness in the patient.
  • Also, it leads to improved attention span, improves focus, and gives a calming effect on the brain.

Composition:-

Each Tablet/Capsule of Adderall generic contains both active and inactive ingredients.

Active Ingredients: Contains a mixture of Amphetamine salts: Dextroamphetamine Saccharate, Amphetamine Aspartate Monohydrate, Dextroamphetamine Sulfate, and Amphetamine Sulfate. Each consists of 25 % of the total composition.
